IGP Disu Urges Police Officers to Embrace Innovation

During a course held at the Nigeria Police Institute in Jabi, Abuja, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Disu charged police officers to embrace innovation and drive police reform. He emphasized that the complex security environment today requires leaders to adapt and account for technology-driven capabilities to respond to emerging threats and evolving public expectations.

IGP Disu encouraged officers to act as ambassadors for positive change, promoting intelligence-led policing and evidence-based decision-making. He expressed appreciation for the support from the German government, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Cleen Foundation in developing the police reform secretariat.

Professor Olu Ogunsakin, Director General of the Nigeria Institute of Police Studies, noted that police reform is a continuous process requiring committed leadership willing to embrace change. The course is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and mindset to strengthen accountability and improve operational performance, ultimately aiming to enhance public trust in service delivery.
