IG Olatunji Disu Calls for Global Support in Police Reform

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to comprehensive institutional reform during a high-level stakeholder dialogue held at the police headquarters in Abuja. This event involved collaboration with the Police Reform Secretariat and representatives from various international organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme, UN Women, and diplomatic missions from Germany, Spain, and Slovakia.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anthony Placid, spoke during the engagement, highlighting the determination to build a modern, professional police force rooted in the rule of law and respect for human rights. Professor Olu Ogunsakin outlined key components of the reform program, which includes legal and policy reform, leadership development, and community trust-building initiatives.

The ongoing reform agenda aims to transform the Nigeria Police Force into a technology-driven institution capable of effectively addressing contemporary security challenges while ensuring transparency and discipline.
