The Nigeria Police Force has a new spokesperson. Inspector General Olatunji Disu has appointed CSP Anieti Okokon Edem Iniedu to the role of Force Public Relations Officer, taking over from DCP Anthoni Okon Placid, who held the position for approximately three months.

Iniedu, a native of Etnan in Akwa Ibom State's local government area, brings a background in law enforcement communications and intelligence operations. He holds a bachelor's degree in pure chemistry from the University of Uyo.

Throughout his police career, he has completed professional training in criminal investigation, interview techniques, crime scene management, and human rights-based policing strategies, according to statements from the Force. Prior to this appointment, Iniedu served as head of the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he managed public complaints and initiated efforts to improve transparency and accountability within the police service.

The appointment is part of broader efforts by IGP Disu to strengthen public communication and rebuild trust in the police force. Iniedu has held various operational and administrative positions across the country during his tenure with the Force.

The timing of Placid's replacement reflects changes in how the police leadership is structuring its public engagement strategy under the current inspector general's administration.
