IGP Disu Launches Crackdown on Illegal Number Plates

Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has directed a nationwide enforcement campaign targeting vehicles operating without registered number plates or those that conceal, alter, or obscure registration details. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen security and combat criminal activities, including kidnappings, which often involve unidentified vehicles.

IGP Disu instructed the Commissioner of Police and Tactical Command Heads to intensify compliance checks on roads and highways to ensure strict adherence to vehicle registration regulations. He urged motorists and vehicle owners to comply with legal registration requirements, emphasizing that no individual or group will receive preferential treatment during the enforcement exercise.

The Nigeria Police Force stated that this initiative aims to protect lives and property while advancing national security objectives through proactive, technology-driven policing.
