Ikeja Electric Launches Buy-Now-Pay-Later Scheme

Ikeja Electric has introduced a new buy-now-pay-later electricity scheme named Advance, enabling eligible customers to obtain up to ₦20,000 worth of electricity units on credit. This initiative aims to prevent unexpected power interruptions when customers run out of units, particularly during challenging financial times.

The distribution company announced this offering through an official notice, stating that qualifying customers can draw electricity units immediately, even without available funds, and repay the equivalent value later. The service is not available to all customers but is limited to those who meet specific eligibility conditions.

Interested customers are directed to visit the payments portal at ie-payments.com to check their eligibility. While the repayment timeline and criteria for qualification were not disclosed, the scheme is currently live for those who qualify.

This move comes in response to increasing pressures on Nigerian electricity consumers facing disruptions due to prepaid meter top-up challenges, especially during economic difficulties.
