Ikoyi Golf Club Ladies Lead Climate Awareness Through School Tree Planting Initiative

Ikoyi Golf Club's Ladies Section, in collaboration with the Lagos State Office of Sustainable Development Goals, initiated a climate awareness program by planting trees in schools to promote environmental sustainability and engage youth in climate action. The program, held at Wahab Folawiyo Comprehensive Junior Senior High School in Ikoyi, featured climate sensitization sessions, tree seedling donations, and planting equipment distribution.

The aim is to complement government efforts in addressing climate change and fostering long-term environmental stewardship among students. The project, led by Peggi Onwu, the Ladies Captain of Ikoyi Golf Club 1938, emphasizes the importance of early sensitization and knowledge-building for sustainable environmental practices.

Over 3,200 seedlings were produced, with 100 donated to schools in Ikoyi. Iren Ubah highlighted the labor, patience, and care involved in the project.
