Ikpeba Warns Chelle Against Leaving Super Eagles for Marseille

Victor Nosa Ikpeba, a former African player, cautioned coach Eric Chelle against considering the managerial role at Olympique Marseille, which recently became vacant following Roberto De Zerbi's departure. Ikpeba highlighted that Marseille is an unstable club that quickly loses patience with coaches when results are unfavorable.

He advised Chelle to focus on his current position with the Super Eagles, where he recently led the team to a bronze finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Ikpeba noted that the Super Eagles displayed impressive attacking football, scoring 14 goals in the tournament.

Chelle's current contract with the Super Eagles is reportedly worth £55,000 monthly, and there are discussions about a potential salary review as his contract runs out next year. Ibrahim Musa Gusau, president of the Nigeria Football Federation, stated that Chelle's contract will remain intact for the year, and any interest from other clubs should wait until it expires.
