Marseille Eyes Eric Chelle for Managerial Position

Olympique de Marseille President Pablo Longoria is reportedly keen on hiring Eric Chelle, the current manager of Nigeria's Super Eagles, for a managerial position at the Ligue 1 club. Discussions are taking place regarding a short-term deal that could evolve into a longer-term agreement.

French journalist Fabrice Romain has indicated that Chelle has formally applied for the vacancy. At 48 years old, Chelle is seen as capable of stabilizing the storied French club following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi.

Longoria is considering offering Chelle a four-month contract with performance-based clauses that could extend for a year if successful. Chelle's recent success with the Super Eagles, leading them to a third-place finish in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, has bolstered his candidacy.

He is under contract with the Nigeria Football Federation until 2027. Despite his modest club-level experience, Marseille fans are hoping for a high-profile appointment, with other names like Pierr Aristou and Sergio Concei also linked to the role.
