Favour Ashe Returns to Team Nigeria for World Relays

Favour Ashe has declared his return to Team Nigeria as they prepare for the World Relays in Gaborone, Botswana. Ashe, who is 22 years old, traveled from Lagos on Wednesday and communicated his commitment to Nigeria through a message.

He has been a significant asset to the team, having set Nigeria's fastest-ever sprint time of 9.79 seconds at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge in 2022. Ashe has consistently improved his performance, clocking 9.96 seconds at the NCAA Championship in Texas in 2023 and 9.94 seconds in Lexington in 2024.

He is expected to enhance Nigeria's men's 4x100m relay squad, joining fellow sprinters Enoch Adegoke, Jame Emmanuel, Chidera Ezeakor, and Tejiri Godwin. Additionally, Nigeria will compete in the women's mixed relay event, led by sprinter Bless Ogundiran.

Ashe's return comes amid uncertainty regarding his training base, with reports suggesting a potential switch to Qatar.
