Favour Ashe Named in Nigeria's World Relays Squad

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has included sprinter Favour Ashe in the squad for the World Relays scheduled to take place in Gaborone, Botswana, from May 2-3, despite ongoing speculation about his potential switch to represent Qatar. The AFN released the squad on Tuesday, April 13, ahead of the entry deadline.

Although there are uncertainties regarding Ashe's future, he remains eligible to compete for Nigeria as World Athletics has not received any formal transfer request. According to World Athletics rules, athletes must undergo a mandatory three-year wait period before representing a new country.

Ashe, who has a personal best of 9.94 seconds in the 100m, is part of the men's 4x100m relay pool, which also includes Olympic finalist Enoch Adegoke, James Emmanuel, Chidera Ezeakor, and Tejiri Godwin. The men's 4x400m list features Ezekiel Azukwo, Gafari Badmus, Victor Imo, Samson Nathaniel, and Emmanuel OJ.

The women's squads include notable athletes such as Jenif Chukwuka and Bless Ogundiran, with Nigeria targeting participation in six relay events.
