Fire Edun Reflects on Achievements as Finance Minister

Fire Edun, who served as the Minister of State for Finance, expressed pride in his achievements following his exit from the position. In a statement issued on Tuesday, he thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in multiple capacities since the administration began in May 2023.

Edun noted that his journey started as the head of the Presidential Transition Committee, later taking on the role of Special Adviser on Monetary Policy and then as Minister of Finance. He acknowledged the difficult conditions inherited by the government but emphasized that the coordinated reforms initiated have begun to yield measurable results, contributing to an economic growth of 2% and a significant decline in inflation from 35% to 15%.

He attributed these outcomes to deliberate efforts to stabilize the macroeconomic environment and strengthen fiscal sustainability, boosting investor confidence. Edun expressed appreciation for the support from local and international partners throughout his tenure and remains optimistic about Nigeria's future, pledging continued commitment to national service.
