Wale Edun Exits Cabinet, Highlights Economic Gains

Wale Edun, the former Minister of Finance, thanked President Bola Tinubu as he exited the Federal Executive Council amid a cabinet reshuffle. In his farewell statement, Edun highlighted significant economic gains achieved during his tenure, including improved growth and a notable decline in inflation.

He served as the Minister of Finance after being appointed to lead the Presidential Transition Committee in May 2023 and later as a special advisor on monetary policy. Edun emphasized the importance of coordinated economic policies and fiscal reforms that strengthened investor confidence in Nigeria's economy.

He reaffirmed his commitment to national service beyond his government role. His departure was confirmed by Georg Akum, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and coincides with expectations of a shift towards sustainable reforms under new financial leadership, particularly concerning the 2024 tax reform bill introduced by President Tinubu.
