Ex-AfDB President Adesina Offers to Serve Nigeria

Dr Akinwumi Adesina, the immediate past President of the African Development Bank, stated on Tuesday in Abuja that he is ready to serve Nigeria in any capacity, although he is not seeking a new job. Following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Adesina reported that the bank provided approximately $7 billion to Nigeria during his 10-year tenure, which constitutes about 63 percent of the total $11.1 billion the bank has financed in Nigeria since 1971.
He visited Tinubu to inform him of the completion of his term and to discuss the bank's achievements. Adesina praised the President’s economic reforms, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the harmonization of exchange rate windows, noting their positive impact on foreign exchange availability and inflation trends.
He emphasized the need for Nigeria to transition from stabilization to structural transformation and growth, expressing his commitment to assist the government in these efforts.
