Nigeria Immigration Service Reviews Border Strategy for 2027

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and supported by the European Union, conducted a three-day Top Management Workshop from September 27 to 30, 2026, at Zuma Rock Resort in Niger State. This workshop aimed to review the 2019–2023 National Border Management Strategy (NBMS) and set the agenda for the upcoming policy cycle from 2027 to 2031.
According to a press release e-signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the workshop served as a strategic platform for NIS Top Management and partners to assess progress, exchange views, and identify key priorities for enhancing Nigeria's border management framework. Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, emphasized the importance of basing the next strategy on credible migration data and effective inter-agency collaboration.
The workshop included strategic discussions, technical sessions, and an endorsement session to validate recommendations and prioritize interventions.
