Nigeria Immigration Service Introduces Biometric Emergency Passport for Stranded Nigerians Abroad

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has unveiled plans to introduce a new biometric emergency passport for Nigerians stranded abroad with expired or lost passports. This initiative, announced during a joint thematic meeting in Khartoum, Rabat, and Niamey, aims to assist Nigerians in returning home safely.

The new travel document will replace the existing emergency travel certificate as part of ongoing reforms to modernize Nigeria's identification and border management systems. The NIS reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to safe and orderly migration, aligning with international standards and promoting regional security.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria's migration management system and protect its citizens abroad.
