Advocating for Festus Onigbinde's Immortalization in Football

Godwin Bamigboy, a renowned grassroots sports administrator, has strongly advocated for the immortalization of the late Festus Onigbinde, a former handler of the Super Eagles. Bamigboy specifically called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the National Institute for Sports (NIS) to honor Onigbinde's legacy.

He emphasized the need for the NFF, led by Ibrahim Gusau, to consider naming a project after Onigbinde, highlighting the respect he commanded from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA. Bamigboy also suggested that the NIS award the best graduating student in football coaching in Onigbinde's name during its annual observance.

During a recent visit to Demis Modakeke, Bamigboy urged the President of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Dr. Isa Ladan Bosso, to honor Onigbinde's memory through various initiatives, including an annual refresher course for Nigerian football coaches.

He lamented the lack of posthumous national awards for Onigbinde's unquantifiable service to the nation.
