Osun Governor Adeleke Highlights Agricultural Expansion Success

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State expressed satisfaction with the agricultural sector's progress over the past three years, particularly in cocoa, cashew, and oil palm cultivation. As of 2023, the state has planted 400,000 cocoa seedlings, 80,000 cashew seedlings, and 60,000 oil palm seedlings.

The cocoa expansion initiative, which began early in his administration, has received a boost through a subsidy program for farmers. Adeleke noted that Osun State is reclaiming its position in cocoa production, aiming to enhance agro-processing infrastructure and the cocoa value chain.

He criticized the previous administration for not purchasing any tractors during its tenure, contrasting it with his administration's acquisition of 31 tractors to serve local farmers across 30 local government areas. The governor highlighted that these tractors have cultivated 4,511 acres since 2025, marking a significant improvement in agricultural mechanization in the state.
