Agbese Advocates for Enhanced Funding for Armed Forces

Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, stated that improved funding and timely releases of appropriated resources are essential for the Nigerian Armed Forces to effectively combat insurgency. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Agbese commended the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede and Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for their results-driven approach to tackling security challenges.

He noted that military operations have shown improvement, particularly in intensifying offensives against insurgent groups. However, he stressed that sustained success depends on consistent funding and timely access to modern equipment.

Agbese highlighted the importance of prioritizing defense funding, describing it as an investment in national stability rather than a routine budgetary obligation. He urged the Nigerian government to recognize the sacrifices made by troops and emphasized the need for public support and collaboration among military and security agencies to address the root causes of insecurity in Nigeria.
