Agbes Advocates for Enhanced Military Funding in Nigeria

Philip Agbes, the deputy spokesman for the House of Representatives, called for enhanced military funding to tackle Nigeria's insecurity challenges during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday. He commended the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede and Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu for their result-driven approach to addressing security issues.

Agbes noted that while the armed forces have shown resilience against evolving threats, their effectiveness largely depends on adequate and timely funding. He pointed out that despite the military's commitment and professionalism, operational realities require consistent funding and access to modern equipment.

Agbes highlighted recent military operations that reflect a renewed strategic direction under current leadership, emphasizing that sustained gains against insurgents depend on efficient fund release. He urged relevant government institutions to prioritize defense funding and called for Nigerian citizens to support the military's efforts in maintaining national security.
