National Assembly Reaffirms Support for Armed Forces

On Saturday, Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbes, expressed the National Assembly's unwavering support for the Nigerian Armed Forces in their fight against terrorism and banditry across the country. This statement follows a deadly attack on Nigerian Army troops in Benisheikh, Borno State, reportedly carried out by insurgents linked to extremist groups.

Agbes highlighted the persistent threat posed by insurgents in the region despite years of military operations aimed at degrading their capabilities. He noted that Nigeria continues to grapple with insurgency in the northeast and banditry in the northwest, emphasizing the Assembly's commitment to ensuring adequate budgetary provisions for defense and security.

Agbes called for Nigerian citizens to support the Armed Forces and remain vigilant, stressing that military efforts alone are insufficient to combat these threats. He also mentioned the importance of timely funding for critical defense assets to address security challenges effectively.
