Ganduje Advocates for PWD Investment to Curb Begging

Abdullahi Ganduje, former governor of Kano State, addressed the issue of begging among persons with disabilities (PWDs) in northern Nigeria during a documentary premiere in Abuja. He advocated for investment in technology and educational initiatives to empower PWDs, enabling them to contribute to society rather than resorting to begging.

Ganduje criticized the neglect of disabled individuals in the region, noting that many are relegated to begging due to a lack of support and opportunities. He called on various government authorities and development partners to invest in programs that cater to the needs of PWDs.

Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, commended Ganduje's initiative, emphasizing the importance of designing assistive devices with the needs of disabled individuals in mind. The event also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Let’s Talk Human Initiative, founded by Fatima Ganduje, which has empowered thousands of beneficiaries since its inception in 2015.
