India Excludes Three West African Nations from eVisa List

India has officially released its eVisa eligibility list for 2026, which includes 147 countries. However, three West African nations have been excluded from this list, meaning their citizens cannot utilize the online application process to visit India.

Instead, they are required to go through traditional visa application channels, necessitating a visit to an Indian embassy or consulate. This omission is particularly significant for Nigeria, which has one of the largest populations in Africa and maintains strong trade, academic, and cultural ties with India.

Approximately 35 African countries are included in the eVisa eligibility list, but the absence of these three West African nations highlights a gap in accessibility for their citizens. The full list of eligible countries and the terms of the eVisa program can be found on India's immigration website.
