INEC Launches PVC Distribution in Sokoto for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and the display of the preliminary register of voters in Sokoto State from October 9 to October 15, 2026. Umar Yusuf Garba, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Sokoto, made this announcement during a briefing at the NUJ press centre.
The initiative is part of INEC's preparations for the 2027 general elections, allowing eligible voters to verify their registration details and collect their PVCs. The PVCs available for collection are those belonging to voters who registered between August 18 and December 10, 2025, during the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
Garba clarified that PVCs related to lost or damaged cards, transfers, updates, and registrations from the second and third phases of the CVR are not yet ready. After the initial distribution period, PVCs will continue to be available at INEC offices in the 23 local government areas of Sokoto.
Garba urged voters to verify their details on the preliminary register and report any discrepancies.
