ADC Accuses INEC of Blocking Candidates for 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), represented by its National Public Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has raised alarms regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) recent actions that threaten the party's participation in the 2027 elections. INEC has stated it will no longer accept correspondence from the ADC pending a determination by the Federal High Court.

This decision, according to Abdullahi, creates a direct conflict with the electoral process, particularly as the Electoral Act 2026 mandates a 21-day notice period for submissions. The ADC claims that INEC's refusal to accept their documents, despite a deadline of May 10, 2025, undermines their ability to comply with the law.

The party argues that this situation could artificially exclude them from the electoral process, which they believe is a tactic to subvert democracy in Nigeria. The ADC is calling for INEC to reverse its position and uphold its constitutional responsibilities to ensure a level playing field for all political parties.
