ADC Warns INEC Actions May Block 2027 Candidate Fielding

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a statement warning that recent actions by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could prevent the party from fielding candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The ADC claims that INEC's refusal to accept its correspondence is effectively shutting down the electoral process.

The party highlighted that it is unable to meet key legal requirements ahead of the elections due to INEC's current position, which they describe as impossible. The ADC noted that they have previously complied with INEC's requirements, including a meeting held on July 29, 2025, where they updated their leadership structure.

The party's national chairman is David Mark, and the national secretary is Rauf Aregbesola. The ADC urged INEC to reverse its stance and resume accepting legal correspondence, calling on Nigerians to remain vigilant against actions that may undermine democracy.
