INEC Promises Enhanced Elections for 2027 After Osun Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has pledged to improve its election conduct for the 2027 general elections, following commendations for the August 15 Osun State governorship election. Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, made this assurance on Thursday during a visit from a solidarity delegation at INEC's headquarters in Abuja.

The delegation, led by Obed Agu, included representatives from political parties, civil society organizations, community leaders, youth groups, and women leaders, who praised INEC's Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, for the successful conduct of the Osun election. Haruna stated that INEC is committed to conducting free, fair, and credible elections, emphasizing that each election has shown improvement over the last.

The delegation noted significant enhancements in voter turnout, real-time results uploading, and overall electoral integrity, urging INEC to maintain and build upon these standards for the upcoming elections.
