INEC Promotes 2,339 Staff, Including 45 Directors

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the promotion of 2,339 staff members, which includes elevating 45 individuals to director level positions. This decision was made during a meeting held on February 26, 2026, and was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.

Among the promotions, Mr. Victoria Eta was noted as being elevated to director level, covering grade levels 16 and 17.

Additionally, 18 deputy directors will continue in active service, while 27 staff members are set to retire shortly. The promotions also include 91 assistant directors promoted to the rank of deputy director and 82 chief officers advancing to assistant director positions.

The exercise affects 2,121 intermediate officers across various departments within the commission. INEC emphasized that these promotions are in line with public service regulations and reflect the commission's commitment to rewarding merit and dedication over years of service, thereby sustaining leadership depth within its structure.
