INEC Denies Knowledge of Parallel Governorship Primary in Osun Amid Accord Party Faction Dispute

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has refuted claims of a parallel governorship primary conducted by a faction of the Accord Party in Osogbo. The controversy arose as Bamigbola Clement emerged as the sole aspirant in the disputed primary ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election.

Ademola Adeleke secured 145 out of 150 votes to become the party's flagbearer, while Abdulazeez Salaudeen was elected as the party's Electoral Committee Secretary. The caretaker chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Babalola Akande, rejected the parallel exercise and warned of legal action against those attempting to legitimize the faction's candidacy.
