INEC Recognizes Nenadi Usman-Led Labour Party NWC Following Court Order

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially acknowledged the Nenadi Usman-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party, in compliance with a Federal High Court ruling. The court upheld Usman's leadership, directing INEC to recognize the elected body.

Usman's caretaker committee includes prominent members like Darlington Nwokocha, Hamisu Santuraki, Aisha Madij, and Eric Ifer. This recognition follows a Supreme Court verdict declaring Usman as the authentic leader of the party.

The leadership tussle within the Labour Party intensified after the 2023 general elections when Peter Obi, the party's presidential candidate, garnered six million votes. Subsequently, Obi defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), leading to internal conflicts and the appointment of Alex Otti as the party's national leader.
