INEC Reports 87% Readiness for Enugu North Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an 87% readiness for the forthcoming Enugu North senatorial district election in Enugu State, scheduled for June 20. Dr.

Chukwuemeka Chukwu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Enugu State, disclosed this information during an interview on Wednesday. He mentioned that the commission has already moved non-sensitive materials to the six local government area offices involved in the election, with further movements planned for June 4.

INEC is also ensuring that its voter accreditation system devices are fully configured to facilitate a smooth election process. Chukwu emphasized the importance of engaging with critical stakeholders at the local government level and noted that four political parties will field candidates in the election.

He refrained from naming the political parties until the headquarters approves the report on the primary elections. Additionally, training for various levels of election officials is scheduled for Friday, and INEC is collaborating with police and security agencies to ensure the protection of its officials and ad hoc staff.
