Enugu State Restricts Movement for June 2026 By-Election

The Enugu State government, represented by Prof. Chidieber Onyia, has announced a restriction of movement across six local government areas in the Enugu North Senatorial District ahead of the by-election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

This restriction will be in effect from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM and will apply across 102 electoral wards within the district. The government aims to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and credible electoral process.

However, exemptions will be made for officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security personnel, accredited election observers, journalists, and individuals authorized to perform election-related duties. Residents and eligible voters are urged to conduct themselves peacefully and comply with electoral guidelines.

Political parties and candidates are also called to support the law and maintain order during the election. The government has directed security agencies to enforce compliance with the movement restriction to maintain law and order during the electoral exercise.
