INEC Registers 2.6 Million New Voters in First Phase of CVR

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered 2,685,725 new voters as the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) concludes. The data shows a rise in female registrations, with women accounting for 56% of total registrants.

Youth participation was also notable, with 53% of registrations falling in the 18-34 age group. Osun State led in registrations, followed by Kano and Sokoto.

Prof. Joash Amupitan, the INEC Chairman, commended the increased political awareness and mobilization efforts.
