Nigeria Advocates National Security Communication Framework

At a national security summit, Information Minister Idris Mohammed and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu pushed for the establishment of a National Security Strategic-Communication Framework. This initiative aims to enhance collaboration between security agencies and the media to tackle the increasing complexity of threats such as terrorism, violent extremism, and cybercrime.

Mohammed stressed the importance of a mutual respect and trust between the media and security agencies, highlighting the need for accurate information dissemination to the public. He noted the administration's focus on security, military operations, and intelligence gathering, citing recent successes in neutralizing terrorist groups and rescuing kidnapping victims.

Ribadu acknowledged the media's role in informing the public and called for structured channels for balanced and transparent information sharing. The summit concluded with a commitment to operationalize the proposed communication framework to sustain regular engagement and protect the nation's security while upholding the public's right to know.
