Minister Idris Addresses Misinformation at Arewa Summit

During a keynote address at the Arewa Media Summit in Kano, Muhammad Idris, the Minister of Information, warned that misinformation and disinformation serve as potent weapons capable of inflaming tensions, undermining trust, discouraging investment, and threatening national security. He praised the media's role in ensuring accurate, fair, and balanced reporting.

Idris noted the significant achievements of Nigeria's security agencies, which have successfully conducted intelligence-led operations resulting in the elimination of notorious terrorist commanders, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the disruption of terrorist financing and logistics networks. He stated that the federal government remains committed to addressing threats to Nigeria's peace with full legal measures and highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration, improved intelligence sharing, and investment in modern equipment and international cooperation.
