Challenges Facing Growth of Nigerian Airports Identified

During the Airport Business Summit in Lagos, Mr. Ahm Danjuma, the Regional General Manager of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), outlined several challenges facing Nigerian airports, including infrastructure constraints, funding limitations, cybersecurity issues, climate disruptions, and a shortage of skilled manpower.

He stressed the importance of handling training personnel to meet the growing passenger demand and to enhance Nigeria's competitiveness in the global aviation market. Alhaji Abdullahi Lawal, the terminal manager at NAIA, added that operational efficiency is crucial not only for reducing costs but also for creating a competitive advantage and increasing airport profitability.

Danjuma argued that improving operational performance is essential for unlocking business opportunities and ensuring long-term sustainability. He concluded that efficient airport operations are vital for delivering safe, secure, and reliable services while maximizing available resources.
