Inquest into Chimamanda Adichie's Son's Death Stalled

The inquest into the death of Eseg Adichie, son of acclaimed author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has been stalled due to the failure of involved parties to exchange witness statements as previously agreed. Magistrate Atinuk Adetunji expressed displeasure over the delays, noting that none of the parties complied with the court's directive.

The next hearing is scheduled for February 25, 2026. The court is also considering an application for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death, alongside a request for the release of the child's medical records.

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria has found a prima facie case of medical negligence against three doctors linked to Eseg's treatment. The inquest aims to uncover the truth and provide closure for the family, with the court emphasizing that it will not allow the process to be stalled.
