Coalition Urges Tinubu to Dismiss Defence Minister

The Coalition Against Terror has called on President Bola Tinubu to implement recommendations made by U.S. Congresswoman Kimberli Daniel, which include the immediate dismissal and redeployment of Minister of Defence Bello Matawalle.

During a press conference in Abuja, Marvin Ib, representing the coalition, aligned with Daniel's assertion that the public has lost confidence in Matawalle's capabilities due to his perceived lack of requisite experience in managing the Ministry of Defence. The coalition highlighted concerns regarding Matawalle's alleged close relationships with bandits, referencing testimony from a former aide that suggested involvement in ransom negotiations and gifts to terrorists.

Daniel emphasized that the greatest form of terror comes from homegrown enemies, urging the need for trust in security personnel. The coalition endorsed Daniel's report and urged President Tinubu to act swiftly to restore confidence in Nigeria's security framework, warning that the country is at risk of being overrun by internal enemies.
