Deputy Senate Leader Ashiru Raises Alarm on Insecurity in Kwara South, Calls for Collaborative Action

Deputy Senate Leader Ashiru expressed deep concern over the alarming insecurity in Kwara South during a security assessment meeting with stakeholders. Ashiru emphasized the critical role of security and stability in fostering prosperity in Kwara State, highlighting the impact of banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes on various sectors.

He outlined practical steps to address the insecurity, including establishing Forward Operating Bases (FoBs), enhancing security agency manpower and equipment, reviving the Forest Guard system, and improving intelligence gathering. Ashiru stressed the importance of collaboration among traditional rulers, youth groups, vigilantes, and security operatives to combat insecurity effectively.

The senator also emphasized the need for land documentation to prevent disputes and illegal settlements, along with empowering local mineral exploration to reduce alienation.
