Kano University Suspends Student Excursion Over Security

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology in Wudil, Kano State, has canceled a planned student excursion to New Bussa, Niger State, following rising security concerns raised by parents and stakeholders. The decision was made by Vice Chancellor Prof.

Musa Tukur Yakasai after reviewing reports on the security situation in the area. The excursion was intended for Level 400 Fisheries students as part of an eight-week mandatory field exercise.

The university's Deputy Registrar for Public Affairs, Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi, clarified that the Vice Chancellor had previously rejected the trip due to ongoing security issues. Instead, the university has selected Tiga Dam in Kano State as a safer alternative for the mandatory exercise.

The university emphasized that the safety and welfare of students remain a top priority, urging parents and guardians to remain calm and reassured that no plans are in place for students to travel to the insecure area of New Bussa.
