Kano University Cancels Field Trip Over Security Concerns

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology in Wudil, Kano State, has canceled a planned field trip to New Bussa, Niger State, due to escalating security concerns. The decision was made by Vice Chancellor Prof.

Musa Yakasai after reviewing reports regarding the security situation in the area. The trip was intended for Level 400 Fisheries students as part of an eight-week mandatory field exercise.

Abdullahi Datti, the Deputy Registrar for Public Affairs, confirmed that the Vice Chancellor had previously rejected the trip due to ongoing public concerns about safety. Instead, the university has selected Tiga Dam in Kano State as a safer alternative for the field exercise.

The university emphasized that the safety and welfare of students remain a top priority, urging parents and guardians to remain calm and reassured that there are no plans for students to visit the insecure area of New Bussa.
