Oshiomhole: Tinubu's Leadership Not Weak on Insecurity

Adam Oshiomhole, a senator representing Edo North, asserted that the insecurity in Nigeria is not a result of weak leadership but rather a deficiency in resources. Speaking in Abuja during the presentation of a book by Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oshiomhole argued that President Bola Tinubu has demonstrated the political will to tackle security issues.

He noted that Tinubu has consistently allocated resources and even proposed a supplementary budget to the National Assembly to enhance security efforts. Oshiomhole also mentioned that the President's declaration of a state of emergency and the replacement of former service chiefs are indicative of his commitment to strengthening national security.

He raised concerns about the implementation of security directives and the need for a review of the NSCDC's name, suggesting that the term "civil" may be inconsistent with its armed operational role. Oshiomhole emphasized the necessity for collaboration among security agencies to effectively combat insecurity, banditry, and kidnapping.
