Oshiomhole: Tinubu's Leadership Not Weak on Security

Adams Oshiomhole, the Senator representing Edo North, asserted that the insecurity issues in Nigeria are not a result of weak leadership from President Bola Tinubu but rather due to insufficient resources allocated to address security challenges. Speaking in Abuja during the presentation of a book authored by Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oshiomhole dismissed claims that the executive arm of government has failed to prioritize security.

He noted that President Tinubu has consistently demonstrated political will by providing resources and declaring a state of emergency to strengthen national security. Oshiomhole raised concerns regarding the implementation of security directives and the need for a review of the NSCDC's name, arguing that the term "civil" is inconsistent with its armed operational role.

He emphasized the necessity for stronger collaboration among security agencies to effectively tackle insecurity, highlighting unhealthy rivalries as major obstacles to national security.
