Oyo Deputy Governor Warns Against Supporting Bandits

Following a recent attack on an Operation Burst facility in Igbeti, Olorunsogo Local Government Area, the Oyo State government, represented by Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal, issued a warning to residents against harbouring bandits or providing them with support. Lawal urged communities near the Old Oyo National Park to report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

He emphasized that harbouring bandits could endanger both individuals and their communities, especially during security operations aimed at removing criminal elements. Additionally, Lawal expressed concerns about illegal mining activities in Boni, a community in Kwara State bordering Oyo, warning Oyo indigenes and youths against patronizing these areas for lithium and other minerals.

He stated that such activities could allow criminal elements to infiltrate forest areas. Lawal assured residents of government support to restore facilities affected by the attack, including accommodations for security operatives, and reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing security in the region.
