Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu on Security Failures

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration regarding its handling of insecurity in the country. His statement, made through spokesperson Phrank Shaibu on Tuesday, followed the announcement of the death of Abba Adamu, a former member of the House of Representatives, who had been held captive by bandits for nine days after being kidnapped along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on May 3, 2026.

Abubakar described Adamu's death as indicative of the worsening security situation and a collapse of Tinubu's administration, calling it a horrific tragedy. He emphasized that the government has failed in its constitutional duty to protect lives and property, stating that the ordinary Nigerian feels increasingly vulnerable and lacks visible protection from the government.

Abubakar criticized the administration for issuing ineffective statements that do not reflect the reality of the security crisis, which has seen a disturbing pattern of kidnappings across the country.
