Atiku Criticizes Tinubu Over Insecurity After Lawmaker's Death

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, condemned President Bola Tinubu's management of the country's security issues after the reported death of former House of Representatives member Adamu, who was in the custody of bandits. Adamu was abducted along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on May 3, 2026, and spent nine days in captivity before his death, which was confirmed on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku characterized the incident as a reflection of the deteriorating security situation under the Tinubu administration. He emphasized that the gruesome death of a former federal lawmaker signifies not just a personal loss but also an indictment of the government's failure to protect lives and property, stating that the administration appears overwhelmed or indifferent to the dangers facing the nation.

Atiku expressed concern over the increasing pattern of kidnappings in Nigeria, highlighting the lack of visible influence from the government to ensure the safety of ordinary citizens.
