Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal Rejects Peace Deals with Terrorists

Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, declared that his administration will never enter into peace agreements with terrorists. In an interview with BBC Hausa Service, he expressed a firm stance against negotiating with armed groups, asserting that previous attempts to broker peace with bandits have failed and only emboldened criminal activities.

Lawal emphasized that the state government remains committed to a strategy centered on military operations and law enforcement actions rather than dialogue with criminal elements. His remarks followed reports of individuals entering truce arrangements with bandits, which he clarified do not represent the position of the Zamfara State Government.

Lawal reiterated that the government will not compromise on individuals responsible for killings, kidnappings, and violent crimes across the state.
