NITP Criticizes Non-Domestication of Urban Planning Law

The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) expressed concern regarding the non-domestication of the Nigerian Urban and Regional Planning Law of 1992 across various states, including Enugu State. During a visit to the chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Igw Asadu, a delegation led by the National President of NITP, Dr.

Chime Ogbonna, emphasized the importance of collaboration with traditional institutions to enhance urban planning and environmental management. Mr.

Ufot Akpabio, the Public Relations Secretary of NITP, stated that the institute seeks to promote orderly urban development in Nigeria and called on traditional rulers to assist in this initiative. HRM Igw Asadu acknowledged the visit and expressed gratitude for the support of the NITP in achieving its goals, highlighting the significance of town planning in developing functional cities and communities across the country.

The discussion also touched on the upcoming 2026 International Conference and the NITP's commitment to advancing sustainable development initiatives.
