Urgent Call for Action on Nigeria's Power Crisis

Olatunbosun Oyintiloy, a former lawmaker representing the Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2019, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in Nigeria's deteriorating power sector. In a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, Oyintiloy expressed concern over the inadequate electricity supply affecting households and industries, despite federal government investments in the sector.

He warned that the lack of reliable power is adversely impacting small-scale businesses and large industries, with many households experiencing less than three hours of electricity daily. Oyintiloy emphasized the need for a panel to investigate the recurring national grid collapses and the poor power supply, which has led to serious protests across the country.

He cautioned that unrest could escalate if the situation is not promptly addressed, highlighting the urgent need for action from the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu. Oyintiloy also noted the high cost of fuel complicating the reliability of generators for power.
