APC Chieftain Urges Tinubu to Address Power Crisis

APC Chieftain Sundai Osogbo Oyintiloy has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action to address Nigeria's persistent power crisis and the rising costs of fuel. He described the current electricity supply challenges as a major source of hardship for Nigerians, exacerbated by ongoing heatwaves that leave many without basic cooling.

Oyintiloy noted that the poor power supply severely impacts small-scale businesses and households, with many only receiving about three hours of electricity daily. He attributed the crisis to factors such as gas supply shortages, weak transmission infrastructure, and chronic underinvestment in the power sector.

Oyintiloy urged Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu to take immediate steps to stabilize the power grid and recommended that the President set up a panel to investigate the recurring failures of the national grid. He warned that the worsening electricity situation could lead to protests and cautioned that inaction could escalate tensions, becoming an embarrassment for the nation.

Additionally, he emphasized that the high cost of fuel complicates the crisis, making it difficult for Nigerians to rely on alternative power sources.
