Arogundade Elected to IFEX Global Council for 2026-2029

Lanre Arogundade, the Executive Director of the International Press Centre (IPC), has been elected to the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX) global council for the term 2026-2029. His election was announced following the conclusion of IFEX's annual general meeting on June 25, where members reviewed the financial statements and approved the auditor for the 2026 financial year.

Arogundade's election is a recognition of his three decades of work in press freedom advocacy and media development. The council now comprises representatives from various organizations across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the Caribbean, with a total of 13 newly elected members.

The IFEX network includes 115 member organizations worldwide, and the council aims to defend freedom of expression and access to information. Arogundade expressed that this recognition is an honor for IPC and reflects its commitment to promoting ethical media practices and enhancing journalists' capacity to report on human rights issues.
